This is my brother Shawn. He had chipped his front tooth in an accident. I was able to fix his tooth with a direct composite filling. This is the ‘white filling’ material we use to get a natural look for front and back teeth. This was something simple that makes a big difference in the way a tooth looks.

DEBBIE (CROWNS)
A few years back, Deb had an accident and broke her 4 front teeth. There also was some serious damage to the nerves of the teeth because of the trauma. Before the accident, the teeth were healthy and looked pretty good.
Over the course of a few months, Debbie had to have root canal treatment on all 4 teeth to remove the dying nerves. Once the teeth were stable, they needed long term protection. Because a tooth that has had a root canal treatment no longer has nerves or blood supply, it can become very brittle and more prone to break. A beautiful tooth colored, all ceramic crown is one of the most pleasing restorations we can make. Since it has NO METAL, Debbie does not have to worry about the dreaded 'black lines' showing at the gum line. With proper care and continuing her bi-yearly visits with our office, we will make sure that these teeth will last a life time!

FILLINGS
Silver fillings have been around for over 150 years. While they work well for small cavities, there are newer materials that have replaced the old black fillings of days past.
Here is one example of a patient that needed some old silver fillings removed because of new cavities that were hiding under the old silver. Once we were done, the teeth look new again. We also removed the broken tooth that was starting to go bad. Now, this patient doesn't have to worry about ugly looking fillings in his teeth and broken roots that cause infections.

DAVID (IMPLANTS)
David has been patient with our office for a few years now. We have a comprehensive plan for David to bring his mouth back to a healthy state. We finished with treatments for his gum disease and he is maintaining well. We decided to tackle David’s teeth in small sections. One area of concern was this dark side tooth. It had a huge silver (amalgam) filling and was starting to fail because of new decay and the filling was too big to protect the tooth.
One unfortunate consequence of a large filling like David’s is that it doesn’t take much force to break the tooth. This is what happened and we had to extract the tooth. Luckily, David was a perfect candidate for a dental implant.
Dr. Braga, our staff periodontist, was able to place an implant for David and I was able to give David a ‘crown’ that looked and felt a lot better than his natural tooth. Now David is excited to continue with his dental care and get rid of the other ‘dark fillings stick out.’
