Your Dental Implants in Merrimack: FAQ

March 15, 2016

dental implants merrimackIf you’ve decided to have your missing teeth replaced with dental implants in Merrimack, we’d like to say congratulations — you’ve made a great choice! We know you may be having some questions right now… like how do you care for dental implants? And how long will your recovery take? That’s why we’ve taken some time to put the top questions together (with answers!) in a FAQ from Dr. Shetty to you. Keep reading to learn more about your upcoming implant procedure.

Q: How long will my dental implant procedure take?

A: The length of your initial implantation procedure will depend on how many teeth are missing. But once the implants are placed, you’re not finished yet. During a recovery period of approximately six months, osseointegration (the fusing of the bone and implant) will occur. After osseointegration is complete, you can come back to Dental Designs of New England for the final restoration of your dental implants… the most exciting part.

Q: Can dental implants secure my loose dentures?

Yes! We’re happy to be able to help people who have struggled with ill-fitting prosthetics with the security of dental implants. We know you’ll be thrilled with how your denture snaps securely into place after your implantation is complete — and you’ll be speaking, eating and smiling with confidence once again.

Q: Once I have dental implants, how do I care for them?

A: The good news is that caring for your dental implants isn’t so different from caring for your natural teeth. You can maintain excellent oral hygiene by continuing to brush twice daily, floss once a day and maintain a healthy diet. If you do experience a problem with one of your dental implants, be sure to schedule an appointment with your dentist as soon as possible.

Q: Will I need to see a specialist for my dental implants procedure?

Patients of Dental Designs of New England enjoy the ease of having each step of their dental implant procedure completed under one roof. That’s because Dr. Shetty works with our on-site periodontist, Dr. Braga, to perform everything from the initial implantation to the final restoration in our Merrimack office.

Q: Will I be without teeth during my recovery period?

A: No! You’ll be fitted with a temporary prosthetic to wear until your jawbone and implants have fully integrated.
