In dentistry, form and function go hand-in-hand—one never follows the other. If your smile looks good, then chances are your smile is a healthy one, too. In fact, research shows that people who have straight, white smiles generally have better oral as well as general health, too. Thus, when you maintain the appearance of your smile you are also taking the right steps to ensure your healthy smile, too. At Dental Designs of New England, Dr. Shetty and her staff offer a number of cosmetic dentistry procedures to help you have a beautiful and healthy smile.

Porcelain Crowns

A crown, also called a cap, is a tooth restoration that completely encapsulates a decayed or damaged tooth. Dr. Shetty uses precious metal, porcelain fused to metal or all porcelain crowns. Once in place, your new crown will be indistinguishable from your other teeth; the color and translucency will match that well.

Invisalign® and Six Month Smiles®

If your smile needs orthodontic treatment, then we offer two options. Both are designed to be discreet, so as not to interfere with your normal social and professional obligations. Invisalign uses clear plastic aligners to gradually move your teeth into proper alignment. Six Month Smiles uses the same technology and mechanics as traditional braces, but instead of metal, the brackets and wires are clear and tooth colored. Straight teeth not only create a more attractive smile, they also allow for easier brushing and flossing, so your smile is healthier, too.

Cosmetic Bonding

When a tooth is chipped or slightly cracked, Dr. Shetty can use cosmetic bonding to restore your tooth’s natural appearance. We take some of the same composite resin material that is used to repair a cavity and apply it to reshape and restore your damaged tooth. Cosmetic bonding can also be used to fill gaps between your teeth, resize a tooth that is proportionally smaller than others, and to cover a discolored tooth.

Porcelain Veneers

If your smile is marred by a number of cosmetic flaws, then you may want to consider porcelain veneers. Also called dental veneers or just veneers, this cosmetic treatment hides your existing smile behind a façade of individually crafted shells of dental porcelain that are designed to collectively give you a perfect smile. Merrimack cosmetic dentist Dr. Shetty carefully bonds each veneer in to place after first making sure the shape, color and fit are perfect.
